Praia do Paraiso

Location: undefined, central Algarve

A tiny paradise cove just west of Carvoeiro, accessible only by descending 130 steep steps carved into the cliffs. Crystal-clear turquoise waters, golden sand, and dramatic cliff walls reward those willing to make the climb.

Praia do Paraíso lives up to its name—Paradise Beach is a tiny slice of heaven tucked into the dramatic Algarve coastline just 400 meters west of Carvoeiro's main beach. This secluded cove, framed by towering golden cliffs, offers one of the most intimate beach experiences in the region. Reaching Paradise Beach requires descending approximately 130 steps carved into the cliff face, but this modest challenge keeps the crowds away and preserves the beach's tranquil atmosphere. At the bottom, you'll find a small stretch of soft golden sand, crystal-clear turquoise waters, and natural rock formations that create sheltered swimming areas. The beach's south-facing orientation means it receives sun throughout the day, while the surrounding cliffs provide natural wind protection. At low tide, visitors can explore small caves on both ends of the beach and discover tidal pools teeming with marine life. The water here is exceptionally clear, making it perfect for snorkeling along the rocky edges. Praia do Paraíso also serves as the starting point of the famous Seven Hanging Valleys Trail, one of the Algarve's most spectacular coastal hikes. The cliff-top path connects to Praia da Marinha and passes through some of the region's most dramatic scenery.
